Washington Explorer Search and Rescue Spokane City/County unit is a youth organization within the Boy Scouts of America. Even thought it is a youth organization the youth always look towards the adults in the group for guidance.
Explorer Search and Rescue (ESAR) in Spokane City/County is the oldest group within the SAR community in Spokane, other organizations within the SAR Community look towards ESAR for the latest technology available.
ESAR in Spokane is just one of many programs within the state of Washington. Washington Explorer Search and Rescue (WESAR) meets quarterly to discuss the SAR related activities within the state and supporting counties.
ESAR as we know it today was started in 1970 with one goal in mind, to provide highly trained volunteers to provide a community service in time of need, Today we still continue to provide this service to our community.
We have searched from state line to state line and also within the surrounding states.
Our meeting place is upstairs at the Sheriff's Training Center at the old University City Mall in Spokane Valley at 10319 E. Appleway Blvd. (Access the upper parking lot via the ramp from Sprague Ave. as shown on the attached map.
