SPOKANE GROUP OFFERS TEENS OPPORTUNITY TO SAVE LIVES
Spokane, WA – October 6, 2011 – Spokane County Explorer Search & Rescue is hosting an open house on Thursday, October 27, 2011 and invites all interested young people to join us to learn about the training and opportunities available to become certified search and rescue volunteers. The open house is from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM at the Spokane Sheriff’s Training Center located at 10319 E. Appleway Blvd. Spokane Valley, WA 99206 on the upper level.
ESAR is a program for young adults from fourteen to twenty years of age that specializes in the search for missing persons within urban and wilderness environments, recovery of the injured, evidence search operations, and providing mutual aid to the Spokane County Sheriff Department. These young men and women are trained and certified to Washington State and National standards, and they get called out on searches just as their adult counterparts do.
In addition to the sense of accomplishment and development of responsibility, ESAR members find that their involvement is a great foundation to build on for personal, professional, and career growth (civilian and military) in the future.
Professional training is conducted on a systematic basis for all who participate to include Crime Scene Investigation, Helicopter Operations, Incident Command, Radio Communications, Search Techniques, Wilderness First Aid, Wilderness Navigation, Wilderness Survival, and more.
Those who are interested in becoming a part of this dynamic group or have any questions regarding the open house are encouraged to contact Rob Brewer at sarguy@gmail.com or visit the ESAR website at www.scesar.org.
